07/01/07 Pictures updated with some new Olof stuff.
20/12/06-06/01/07 Christmas and New Years spent in Sweden with family. Olof enjoyed the time but caught a cold almost immediately after landing in Sweden.

21/12/06 Presented research report on civil-military relations and interagency co-operation in Sweden at the Swedish National Defence College.
12/06 My article Explaining US and British performance in complex expeditionary operations: The civil-military dimension is published in the Journal of Strategic Studies, vol. 29, no. 6.
08/06 The website of Stockholm Center for Strategic Studies is launched at www.scss.se.
25/07/06 Back in Tanzania after a great period in Sweden. Olof was born healthy, I had a very interesting time working at the Swedish National Defence College in Stockholm, and we also had the pleasure of seeing most of Ditte's and my friends and family.
06/06 Bengt Abrahamsson, Karl Yden and I published the book Effect-Based Operations, Military Organization and Professionalization. The Book was published by the National Defence College in Sweden and is available at http://www.mamut.com/forsvarshogskolan for 208kr.

 

 23/03/06 Our son OLOF AXEL EGNELL was born 50 cm tall and 3265 grams heavy. A beautiful little boy. Check out the pictures page.

 

27/01/06 Left for Sweden where Ditte and I await the birth of our first child.
29/10/05 Started a blog on http://robertegnell.blogspot.com/ where I will spread my thoughts on International Politics, Strategy, and African development. Check it out! The first blogis an article about the Tanzanian elections.
22/10/05 Sang "Rule Britiannia" and "Heart of Oak" at the British celebration of the 200 year anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar.
10/05 New term started at the University of Dar es Salaam. I am teaching the basic course in International Relations this year.
09/25/05 BERLIN MARATHON! Bad cramps already after 28 km meant a rather useless time of 4:09:20. However, both my father and brother also made it and the arrangement was a true festival so who can complain?
7-14/08/05 Participated again in the musical interpretation course for singers at Kapellsbergs School of Music in Härnösand.
06-08/05 Long summer break in Sweden meeting friends and family.
15/06/05 Opening night of "Little Shop of Horrors" at the Little Theatre in Dar es Salaam. I am performing as "Audrey II" the man eating plant from outer space. I have worked hard on the rock n'roll voice for this one...
02/06/05 Passed the upgrade mini viva which means that the department of War Studies has approved my first three chapters and that I am roughly half way through my PhD dissertation.
24/05/05 Flying to Stockholm for meetings at the National Defence College, and on the 27th flying on to London where Ditte will meet up for vacation!
07/04/05 Yours truly is 30 years old today! One small step for mankind, but a huge leap for a man.
19-26/03/05 In London for meeting with my supervisors as well as research interviews at MoD, FCO and DFID.
07-18/03/05 Research in Washington DC, involving interviews with officials from the US DOD, State Department, the National War College, as well as RAND and CSIS. Very useful two weeks.
05/03/05 Presented a paper called 'Civil-Military Relations in Peace Operations: Civilian Leadership without Micro-management', at the annual ISA convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.
